Composing logs
To predict pore pressure you need log values over the entire relevant interval. In some cases, you may only have a single raw input log you plan to use, in which case composition is straightforward and can be automated. Often, though, you need to combine several logs of the same type to ensure that the most representative log data is captured. The Log Composition form (1D Model > Log Composition > Log Composition) enables you to easily stitch together a single curve from multiple curves of a single type that might overlap or have gaps. You use this 'composite' curve for all further calculations. You do the composition graphically within each compositor track.
To compose logs
- For the View Mode, select either the Combine composite view or One view per composite option. The Combine composite view option causes all of the selected compositors to open in the same view, though each of the compositor types will occupy separate tracks. The One view per composite option performs the opposite action, opening each of the compositors in a separate view. By default, the Combine composite view option is selected.
- Select the log types for which you want to create the composite, and then click Show Compositors to open the Compositor view. You can also right-click a log and select select all.
- After you compose the logs, click OK to open the Assign Logs form, which you can use to review and assign the composite curves that will be used throughout the rest of the 1D Model workflow.
You can also manually edit the composite logs on a fine-grained level using the Composite Log Editor.
